A Source Reassignment Technique for Time-frequency Masking Audio Separation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A neighborhood-based source reassignment technique is proposed for being used on time-frequency masking audio source separation methods. This technique identifies all the time-frequency clusters that form the separation masks in the Short-Time Fourier Transform (STFT) domain, and labels each time-frequency bin with a value that denotes the size of their corresponding clusters. The bins corresponding to clusters of small size are reassigned to the source which has maximum likelihood in its time-frequency neighborhood. An example is described using the DUET algorithm for underdetermined mixtures, showing that this technique improves substantially the isolation of the estimated signals.

Oracle estimators for the benchmarking of source separation algorithms
Source separation is a difficult problem for which many algorithms have been proposed. In this article, we define oracle estimators which compute the best performance achievable by different classes of algorithms on a given mixture, in a theoretical evaluation framework where the reference sources are available. We describe explicit oracle estimators for four particular classes of algorithms: b...
متن کاملBlind Source Separation Using Mixtures of Alpha-Stable Distributions
We propose a new blind source separation algorithm based on mixtures of alpha-stable distributions. Complex symmetric alpha-stable distributions have been recently showed to better model audio signals in the time-frequency domain than classical Gaussian distributions thanks to their larger dynamic range. However, inference of these models is notoriously hard to perform because their probability...
متن کاملRemixing musical audio on the web using source separation
Research in audio source separation has progressed a long way, producing systems that are able to approximate the component signals of sound mixtures. In recent years, many efforts have focused on learning time-frequency masks that can be used to filter a monophonic signal in the frequency domain. Using current web audio technologies, time-frequency masking can be implemented in a web browser i...
متن کاملMusical Sound Separation Based on Binary Time-Frequency Masking
The problem of overlapping harmonics is particularly acute in musical sound separation and has not been addressed adequately. We propose a monaural system based on binary time-frequency masking with an emphasis on robust decisions in timefrequency regions, where harmonics from different sources overlap. Our computational auditory scene analysis system exploits the observation that sounds from t...
متن کاملA Signal-adaptive Local Cosine Transform for Source Separation by Time-frequency Masking
Time-frequency masking is often used for source separation of underdetermined audio mixtures. It depends on the fact that the sources can be represented disjointly in some transform domain. The focus of this paper is on demixing sources from instantaneous, two-channel mixtures by binary masking. We investigate trees of local cosine bases from which a suitable transform may be generated—the best...
